Women's Soccer Outlasts Austin College 2-1

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team outlasted Austin College 2-1 Tuesday evening. The Crusaders took 18 shots, putting seven on goal. Anisa Meza (Helotes, Texas) scored her first career goal for the game winner.

Monica O'Donnell (Lincoln, Neb.) led the Crusaders with five shots taken. UD also had a trio of players take three shots on the night. Kasaundra Eason (Henderson, Nev.), Maddie Rodriguez (Houston, Texas), and Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) all had three.

Dallas had early opportunities as they struck seven shots in the first half. In the 22nd minute Rodriguez found the back of the net for her first goal on the campaign. Katia Guzman (Pearland, Texas) led her with a nice pass for a great finish. UD took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

Austin College did not back down. On the second shot taken in the half Cassie Waugh hit the equalizer in the 60th minute off a free kick just outside the 18. Austin took five shots in the second half and four in the first. With just eight minutes left in the half, Meza took a nice cross by Hailey Hurlburt (Lumberton, Texas) and used her back leg to direct it past the keeper. AC had two more opportunities late, but both shots were saved nicely by Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.).

Severson posted seven saves, only allowing one goal on the night. She is now (2-3-1) as a keeper in 2018. Dallas outshot Austin College 18-9.

Catalina Canizalez led the 'Roos with three shots, putting them all on goal. Rodriguez, Meza, and Waugh each recorded their first collegiate goals on the evening.
