Women's Soccer falls to No. 21 Trinity on Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 contest on Sunday afternoon to No. 21 Trinity University. The Crusaders (2-5-1, 1-3 SCAC) held the top-25 ranked opponent to a goal in the first half, but were held to three shots in the shutout.

The Tigers got on the board at the 14:44 minute mark on a goal by Katie Peth with the assist from Kaity Ward. Dallas was outshot 12-3 in the first half. Elisa Duran was responsible for two of the shots, while Bekah Gonzalez (Reno, Nev.) took the other one for UD.

There were not many offensive chances for Dallas, and the Tigers added two more goals in the last 45 minutes. Kristen Canepa sent a free kick just outside the 18 into the top right side of the net to make it 2-0 at the 50:18 mark. Around six minutes later, Chelsea Cole was awarded a penalty kick. She missed the initial attempt, but came up with the rebound and sent it by Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.).

Severson grabbed a season-high 11 saves, while tying the fewest goals allowed by a conference opponent to Trinity. She was one save away from matching a career-best from last season at Texas Lutheran University (Sept. 29).
