Late Goal for 'Roos sinks Women's Soccer on Road

SHERMAN, Texas – A goal in the 88th minute for Austin College proved to be the difference as the University of Dallas women's soccer team fell 1-0 in a difficult result Sunday. Karolina Cruz punched the game-winning score, which came on a cross from left that Anessa Tomblin set up with the assist. The Crusaders fall to 3-10-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

Despite the 'Roos doubling the shot output (18-9), Dallas managed to boast more shots on goal with a 7-5 edge. The Crusaders also forced more corner kicks 7-1. Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) displayed a perfect shot on goal percentage with three, and Whitney Jackson (Pryor, Okla.) added two shots on frame while shooting a team-most four times.

Cruz shot six times for the most in the contest and made the one that mattered most, as the 'Roos improved to 4-11 and 3-6 for fifth place in the league. Maya Erwin pitched a shutout with seven saves against seven shots faced in 90 minutes.

Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) took the start in goal and made two saves in one half of play. Her pair of saves tied her with 2012 UD Hall of Famer, Kelly Scofield, for second in the program with 336.
