Bulldogs pair of 1st Half Goals top Women's Soccer Friday

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team allowed two goals in the first half and dropped a decision by that margin at Texas Lutheran University on Friday night. Calista Goode scored the eventual game-winning goal 10:53 minutes into the match on a pass that came from Raquel Morris. In the 19th minute, Jaclyn Smolik added an insurance score with her second goal of the season on a shot that came 15 yards out.

The Bulldogs amassed 16 shots per half, while Dallas only collected five all coming in the opening stanza. Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) took two of those attempts, while Samantha Haeick (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Kasaundra Eason (Henderson, Nev.) both had a shot on goal for the only ones UD tallied. TLU posted 14 shots on goal overall with Smolik and Morris each tying a game-high with three.

Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.) garnered a new personal-best 12 saves in 90 minutes. This was the second time in the keeper's career to eclipse double-digits in saves. Her previous best was September 10th vs. East Texas Baptist University with 10.

Stephanie Barrientos started in goal and made two saves against two shots faced. Mikaela Gilbert worked a scoreless 45 minutes in the second half, and the Bulldogs shutout helped them improve to 3-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The Crusaders dropped to 2-6-2 and 1-3-1 in the conference with its second straight setback.
