'Roos edge Women's Soccer by a 2nd-Half Goal on Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to Austin College on Sunday afternoon. It was a back-and-forth tilt throughout the match, with the 'Roos gaining the lone goal at the 56:04 minute mark by Sarah Battles. Her third of the year came from Karolina Cruz on a far attempt that snuck in the upper part of the goal.

The Crusaders finished with a 19-12 advantage in shots and 7-6 edge in shots on goal. This included an 11-5 edge in the first half. UD was unable to find the back of the netting, and the 'Roos were helped by Maya Erwin's (2-4) seven saves in the shutout.

Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) paced the Crusaders with five shots and tied a team-high three shots on frame with Kate Vidimos (Bedford, Texas). Vidimos did attempt a penalty kick 12 minutes into regulation. Her previous attempt two weeks ago against East Texas Baptist University was successful, but on Sunday Erwin was able to make the save.

The Crusaders later attempted the final four shots of the game, with all of them coming in the last five minutes. Three were blocked and on was turned away by Erwin the home team never found the equalizer.

Olivia Severson (2-2-1) notched five saves against six shots faced in 90 minutes. The Crusaders moved to 2-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matches. Austin College improved to 3-4 and 2-2 in league play.
