Women's Soccer unable to get Win on Senior Day

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (4-12) battled Texas A&M-Texarkana University (11-6) to a scoreless halftime. Four goals would lift the guests in the second half on Thursday in a non-conference match.

Prior to the tilt, lone senior Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii) was recognized for her dedication in with the program. Mayer started for the 76th time in her career and has been in the starting 11 all but her first contest she debuted in 2013.

In the opening stanza, the Eagles held an 11-6 shot advantage. The team's leading scorer, Samantha Sharpnack-Isom, made the first attempt of the match about three and a half minutes in and Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) nabbed the save. Naccari contained seven saves in the first half to tie a season-high for the fourth time this fall. It was the first time the keeper made the feat in only 45 minutes of play.

Dallas did begin to possess more a little after seven minutes had ticked off the clock. Mason Cosgrove (Lac Cruces, N.M.) put the first UD shot on goal just under 11 minutes. The next spurt of action did not occur until around the 17th minute when Texas A&M-Texarkana's Hannah Harris had a shot saved that had followed a corner kick.

The two leading shot takers on the team and match for the Crusaders, Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) and Chelsea Reeh (Boerne, Texas), countered for the home team a few moments later but could not break through. Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. Naccari captured her final pair of saves under the last two minutes to round out the shooting that half.

It did not take long for the eventual game-winning goal to occur out of intermission. At the 50:12 minute mark, Arika Elliott scored unassisted. About 19 minutes later, Sharpnack-Isom scored the first of two goals in the contest. Neeley Keller assisted the first one and then Elliott would take her third point of the match on the second helper in the 83rd minute.
