THE LEAD

The University of Dallas women's soccer team (4-10-1, 1-7-1 SCAC) continues a four-game road trip at Austin College (3 p.m.) on October 21 and Centenary College (2 p.m.) on Oct. 23. The Crusaders won this Tuesday in a non-conference match at Southwestern Adventist University, 9-0. Chelsea Reeh broke a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and school record for most goals in a game with six.

Dallas tied at Texas Lutheran University last Sunday in a scoreless draw. The Crusaders gained a point and are tied with Austin College in the standings with four. Three conference matches remain as UD shoots for a top six spot in qualifying for the tournament at Schreiner University November 4-6.


UD NOTES

- Reeh moved to the top of the team in scoring with eight now her freshman season. The forward's latest performance propelled her to fourth in the league. She also is the team leader in points (16), shots (50), and shots on goal (31).

- Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) has contributed three goals and two assists for eight points.

- Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii) scored twice and dished a pair of assists for six points in Tuesday's match.

- Miranda Lozano (Richardson, Texas) was another player with two assists in the latest outing. She now has four points in her rookie season.

- Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) has made 13 starts and posted 962:45 minutes in the goalkeeper role. She has 52 saves and teamed up with Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.) to gain last Sunday's shutout. The duo combined for seven of the team's eight saves in while sharing time in the net.

SCOUTING THE 'ROOS

Austin College (3-11-1, 1-8-1 SCAC) is winless in October and has dropped four straight. The 'Roos are 1-5 at home. Their most recent setback was at Schreiner University in a 2-1 result. After Friday's matchup with the Crusaders, AC wraps up its season at Centenary on Oct. 29.

A trio of players lead the offense including: Sarah Battles, Ashley Rice, and Kyli Scott. Each have netted two goals. Erin Eckart is the team leader in assists with four. Eckart and Rice share the top spot in the points column with six apiece. Laura McGee is the conference leader in saves with 122. She has logged 1,390 minutes in between the posts.

In the previous meeting between these programs at Crusader Field, the 'Roos won on a goal by Scott in the 71st minute. Rice started the sequence with a pass to Tori Strunk who found Scott on the game winner. UD's Duran kicked four of her tying game-high five shots on target. Severson made seven saves in 90 minutes.

Last season, the Crusaders secured the fifth-seed with a 1-0 final at Sherman, Texas. Graduated seniors Abigale Weisbrod and Mariah Fairbanks were involved on the scoring sequence. Naccari made four stops in the shutout.  


SCOUTING THE LADIES

Centenary College (5-9, 2-8 SCAC) has dropped the past six matches, including five in a row this month. Last weekend, the Ladies fell at Schreiner University and No. 3 Trinity University. Centenary is 3-3 at the friendly confines compared to 2-6 away.

Kati-Jayde Cunningham leads the Centenary offense with nine goals. She is tied second in the SCAC with that mark. Cunningham is also atop the statistics on the squad with three assists and 21 points (tied-2nd SCAC). The Maroon and White have also received offense from Serena Gallegos and Marissa Hughes with respective goal totals of four and three. Gallegos has eclipsed 10 points. Erica Coker ranks second in the league with 87 saves and has totaled 971:33 minutes.

Centenary Season Stats

Dallas prevailed in the first matchup this season with a 4-3 overtime thriller at Crusaders Field. Reeh and Duran scored early in the first half, but the Ladies equaled the match on goals from Cunningham and Gallegos. In the 82nd minute Samantha Haeick (Las Vegas, Nev.) headed her first collegiate goal, but Gallegos scored her second of the match before end of regulation. Reeh would tap the golden goal.

Last year, the Ladies were able to win in Shreveport, Louisiana, by a 2-0 decision. The field was in difficult playing conditions as rainfall hit the area throughout the day, including play.


UP NEXT

Dallas returns home for two final matches this regular season. On Oct. 27, the Crusaders will host senior day prior to a 4 p.m. kickoff with Texas A&M-Texarkana. UD concludes the regular season on Oct. 30 against Trinity University.
