Women's Soccer falls 1-0 Against Austin College Friday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (2-8, 0-5 SCAC) fell in a tightly contested 1-0 match on Friday versus Austin College (3-6-1, 1-4-1 SCAC). The Crusaders were outshot 17-14 but did notch one more attempt on frame (9-8) than their opposition. Laura McGee (3-6-1) made seven saves and the 'Roos back line kept out two goals to give the team nine overall.

Austin College would go ahead on the game winner from Kyli Scott. A double assist from Tori Strunk and Ashley Rice set up a finish inside the box in front of the net. Scott's goal in the 71stminute proved to be the difference as the Crusaders did not come up with an equalizer.

It was a scoreless match at intermission. Austin College held an edge at that juncture in shots 7-5. From the opening kickoff, the Maroon and Gold etched the first pair of shots – both on goal. UD's Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.), making her second straight start, turned both shots faced away for saves. The home team's first shot was wide at the 11:52 minute mark by Chelsea Reeh (Borne, Texas).

In the second half, the 'Roos took the first two shots and had respective results of a save and ball deflect off the post. Both moments happened under three minutes into the stanza. Dallas captured momentum over the next duration as a corner kick taken by Kasaundra Eason (Henderson, Nev.) setup an opportunity for Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M). Cosgrove kicked a hard ball that was rejected by a defensive gold jersey that was heading into the net.

From Cosgrove's shot to the 68:02 minute mark, Dallas attempted six shots compared to one by the guests. Three of those were saves gathered including two gloved by McGee.
