THE LEAD

The University of Dallas women's soccer team (2-5, 0-2 SCAC) opens a five-game home stand on Friday versus Southwestern University. The weekend slate ends on Sunday, September 25 with Texas Lutheran University visiting. Start time for that tilt is around 2 p.m.

The Crusaders are 2-2 at home this season and looking to end a three-game skid. The most recent setback was a 5-0 result at No. 4 (at the time) Trinity University. Dallas trailed 1-0 at halftime in Sunday's outing.   


UD NOTES

- Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) remains the lone Crusader with multiple goals having two.

- Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) is tied with Duran for the team-lead in points with four and has two assists.

- Chelsea Reeh (Boerne, Texas) has a team-high 22 shots and team-high 14 shots on goal. UD has a .644 (58-90) shots on goal percentage.

- Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) has matched a season-high seven saves in three matches, including the most recent consecutive outings. Naccari has logged 585 minutes overall and made 30 saves. She made her 40th career start last Sunday.

SCOUTING THE PIRATES

Southwestern (4-2, 3-0 SCAC) remains unblemished in conference play so far, but are 0-2 away from the friendly confines. The Pirates have played at home during the three-game winning streak, with a combined 13 goals tallied during the stretch. This includes a 4-0 shutout over Austin College last Sunday.

Hayley Miesse leads the Pirates individually with four goals and nine points. She is tied with Malorie Lara in the team lead with 13 shots. Lara joins Mady Akers and Kierstyn Luckock in a three-way tie for points (5) and goals (2) on the leaderboard. Mary Cardone has made six starts and accumulated 449:59 minutes. Cardone has 19 saves and posted a 0.60 goals allowed average (GAA).

Miesse and Cardone each earned SCAC Player of the Week honors to sweep the women's soccer side of the conference.

Southwestern Season Stats

In the all-time series, Dallas is 4-15-3 against the Pirates. This includes three meetings in 2015. The most recent was a scoreless draw in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Quarterfinals. UD fell 5-3 in penalty kicks, which allowed the Pirates to advance.

At home in the regular season contest, The Crusaders fell 4-2. Sydney Stirling (McLean, Va.) assisted the second goal as both scoring plays came from graduated seniros.


SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

Texas Lutheran (2-2-2, 1-1-1 SCAC) prevailed in the last outing on Sunday in a 4-1 victory against Centenary College. This scoring outburst occurred after the Bulldogs had been kept scoreless through 200 minutes in SCAC games. On the road this season, TLU is 0-2-1. The Bulldogs are at Huston-Tillotson University on Friday.

Katie Morton and Jessica Coronado are the top scorers on the team with two goals apiece. Morton has an assist to give her the top spot on the squad with five points. She is also the lone player with a double-digit output in shots with 10. Erin Rose has made five of the teams six starts and played most of the minutes out of four keepers with playing time in the net. Rose has 13 saves in 434:19 minutes logged.

Texas Lutheran Season Stats

Dallas owns a 7-5-1 record against the Bulldogs. Last season, the Crusaders split the third-seeded squad with the home team winning each time. Naccari pitched a shutout with nine saves. Mariana Burciaga (Forney, Texas) connected on a header to give the golden goal in double overtime at the 105th minute.


UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Dallas continues its season-long home stand with two games the following Friday and Sunday. On Sept. 30, women's team kicks off the doubleheader on Crusader Field at 3 p.m. versus Austin College. As the calendar turns to October 1, UD hosts Centenary College at 2 p.m.
