THE LEAD

The University of Dallas women's soccer team (2-3) begins Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) action at Schreiner University (Sept. 16 at 4 p.m.) and No. 2 Trinity University (Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.). The Crusaders went 2-1 last week to complete a three-match home stint. Dallas is 0-1 away from the friendly confines this year.


UD NOTES

- Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) rose to tie Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) on the team with points (4) after tallying both goals in a 2-0 win over Millsaps College last Friday.

- Cosgrove's assist on the second Duran goal was her team-leading second helper.

- Chelsea Reeh (Boerne, Texas) paces the squad with 21 shots and 13 shots on goal.

- Dallas has kicked 53-of-84 (.631) shots on goal this season.

- Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) earned her first shutout a week ago and has notched 16 saves in 405 minutes.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

Schreiner (2-1-1) opens conference with the Crusaders on Friday. The Mountaineers are 2-0-1 at home and host Dallas for the fourth match out of a five-game home stand. The most recent result was a 2-1 victory against Sul Ross State University 2-1 on Sunday. Schreiner also played another common UD opponent this season in McMurry University. That final was 9-0.

Cailee Morgan leads the Mountaineers with four goals. Kayla McConnell boasts the most points (9) on the team with three goals and three assists. The tandem of Morgan and McConnell hold double-digit numbers in shots with 17 and 10, respectively. The Maroon and White have outscored the opposition 13-4. Jordin Toso has been between the posts the majority of the season with 432:08 minutes and 15 saves.

The Mountaineers were selected second in the SCAC predicted order to finish this preseason. 

Schreiner Season Stats

Dallas is 20-2 overall against the Mountaineers. The teams split last season with the road team prevailing each time. The past two games at Kerrville, Texas, have resulted in 1-0 triumphs for the Crusaders. Cosgrove netted the gamewinner at the 17:59 minute mark last year. Naccari had three saves. Schreiner held a 7-3 shots edge in the defensive struggle. Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii) netted the golden goal in 2014. Naccari made four stops in 93:07 minutes.


SCOUTING THE TIGERS

No. 4 Trinity (4-0) has a week between matches. Last Sunday, the fourth-ranked National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) team squeezed past Sewanee University 2-1 in extra regulation. Yasmeen Farra kicked the golden goal at the 96:36 mark. Trinity is in the midst of a five-game home stand that wraps up with the SCAC opener.

Colleen Markey paces the team with four goals and nine points. Chelsea Cole is second on the team with seven points and is tied with Julia Camp for the team-lead in assists with three apiece. Other multi-scoring players for the Tigers are Julia Kelly and Farra. Kalli Douma has logged all 366:36 minutes between the pipes and made five saves. The keeper also has a pair of shutouts.

Trinity was picked to win the conference in the SCAC prediected order of finish this preseason. 

Trinity Season Stats

The Crusaders are 0-20 in the overall series with the defending SCAC Champions. Last year, Dallas fell in both contests. The match at Trinity was a 4-0 final. Camp had a pair of goals while Farra and Markey each double assisted the final two goals that each occurred in the second half. Naccari made 16 saves, which was her second highest total on the season.


UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Dallas returns home for a season-long, five-game stretch. The trek begins with Southwestern University on Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. Texas Lutheran visits on Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. 

Note that the Crusaders cancelled their originally scheduled October 9th contest with Dallas Christian College earlier this week.
