Hendrix tops Women's Soccer on Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (2-3) fell 3-0 against Hendrix College (4-1) on Sunday afternoon. An evenly fought first half was not enough for the Crusaders, as the road team netted a trio of goals in the final 45 minutes to earn the victory.

The Warriors attempted the first two shots of the match within a little over eight minutes, but Dallas answered with four attempts from the 10:18 minute mark to the 16:31 mark. Mariana Burciaga (Forney, Texas) and Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) counted shots on goal with the first and fourth shot of that sequence, respectively. The Crusaders held a 5-3 edge in shots at intermission, but the contest remained scoreless.

After the break, a quick tally in the goal column occurred with Hendrix's Ellen Martin finding the back of the net at the 45:34 minute mark. Hagan Griffith provided a pass from the left side that got the ball in the box for Martin to notch the eventual game winner.

Dallas kept the margin at one, but were unable to counter with an equalizer. The Warriors' Sydney Blevins took a clean header off a right side corner kick from Melissa Miller to push the score 2-0. An own goal off UD in the final minute completed the scoring.
