YEAR IN REVIEW: Women's Soccer
IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team finished 10-9-1 overall and went 7-4-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The seven victories in the league marked a team-best since joining four years ago. Second-year Head Coach, Angelina Pane, led the Navy and White to its third winning campaign in the past four years. UD claimed the third seed, and ousted Schreiner University 2-0 in the SCAC Quarterfinal. The Lady Crusaders fell 1-0 to the second seed, Texas Lutheran University. It was the third-straight year for Dallas to qualify through a semifinal affair.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
- Posted a 6-3 mark at the home confines this season.
- Went 2-1-1 in overtime this year.
- Broke into the win column the second affair of the campaign with a 1-0 shutout versus Southwestern College (KS) on Aug. 31, 2014.
- Topped Southwestern University 1-0 in overtime fashion on Sept. 19 to snap three-game slide. Senior Nicole Johnson netted the game-winner for her sixth goal at the time.
- Johnson paced the squad with team-highs in goals (9), shots (73), points (20), and shots on goal (39). She tied junior teammates, Rebecca Brunter and Mariah Fairbanks, with a pair of assists.
- Longest winning streak this fall was four contests in a row. Posted a stretch of six triumphs out of eight games.
- Were involved in 14 shutouts this year altogether.
- Blanked opponents eight times and prevailed in seven shutouts this season, including five wins versus conference foes.
- Freshman Elena Naccari compiled 1,296 minutes and displayed a 1.53 goals allowed average with 73 of the team's 125 saves. Fellow classmate Tori Fleharty contributed 48 stops through 505:56 minutes.
- Trio of players added multiple goals with three total: sophomore Cascade Mayer, freshman Mackenzie Vasile, and senior Alice Nelson.
- Mayer punched overtime game-winner on pass from junior Abigale Weisbrod to defeat Schreiner University on the road 1-0.
- Vasile's early goal was enough to lift UD to 1-0 victory against Austin College on Senior Day.
- Coach Pane tabbed National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) West Region Coach-of-the-Year.
