IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas (9-8-1, 7-4-1 SCAC) defeated Austin College (10-9, 6-6 SCAC), 1-0, on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the 2014 regular campaign on "Senior Day." It was the home squad's fifth shutout this year, and improved its record to 6-2 in one-goal contests.

Dallas clinches the third seed outright heading into the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) tournament that is set for Nov. 7-9 in San Antonio, Texas. It is the Lady Crusader's highest win total in SCAC history, and second time since joining the league in 2011 to post a winning record within it.

Prior to Saturday's match, five senior athletes would be recognized for their contributions to the women's soccer program which included: defender Kayla Nguyen (Olathe, Kan.), defender Lindsey Jeo (McKinney, Texas), defender Kaitlin Meske (Waco, Texas), forward Nicole Johnson (Houston, Texas), and Student Assistant Mary Quinn (Olathe, Kan.).

The Lady Crusaders posted a 10-9 shot advantage, and a netter by freshman midfielder Mackenzie Vasile (San Antonio, Texas) at the 18:22 minute mark was enough to lift the home squad on the afternoon. Her first game-winner of the year was her third of the season, and was set up by Johnson.

Dallas held Austin to three shots in the opening frame, and continued to apply pressure with eight of its attempts in the same one. The navy and white carried a 1-0 edge into halftime.

Junior midfielder Abigale Weisbrod (Mesquite, Texas) paced the team with 4 shots, while Johnson followed with three. Saturday's scoring heroics from Vasile was one of two attempts, as she netted one of the team's pair of shots on goal. Weisbrod claimed the other one. Meske also added a shot in her final day in front of the home crowd.

Freshman goalkeeper Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) earned the win (6-5-1) in the net for the navy and white, stopping three shots on target for saves, as she pitched her fourth clean sheet of the campaign.

Dallas begins SCAC Tournament play Nov. 7-9, which is hosted at Trinity University located in San Antonio, Texas. The Lady Crusaders will take on Schreiner University at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Dallas went 2-0 versus the Lady Mountaineers after it claimed a pair of one-goal victories, which included a 1-0 overtime victory at Kerrville, Texas.
