@UDallasWSoccer 5, Centenary (LA) 1

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (8-6, 6-2 SCAC) defeated Centenary College of Louisiana (1-14, 0-9 SCAC) 5-1 on Friday afternoon. Dallas has won six of its last eight and moved into sole possession for second place in the conference standings.

Five different Lady Crusaders tallied a goal in the team's highest scoring output of the campaign. A pair of netters highlighted the first half for the home squad, before sealing things with a trio of scoring results in the final frame.

It was a scoreless match through the majority of the opening half, with junior forward Mariah Fairbanks (Rocklin, Calif.) notching a goal in the 31st minute. Freshman defender Alexa Acquista (Las Vegas, Nev.) was responsible for the assist. In the closing minutes of the first stanza, freshman midfielder Taylor Ray (Cypress, Texas) completed a pass from Fairbanks to double the advantage for the navy and white.

Senior forward Nicole Johnson (Houston, Texas) extended the edge on a penalty kick, as the leading-scorer on the squad also increased her overall total to eight.

Centenary cut the deficit to 3-1 at the 56:36 minute mark off a goal from Madison Alexander, with Carly Slovensky picking up the assist.

It was as close as Dallas would allow, with junior defender Rebecca Brunter (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and freshman midfielder Mackenzie Vasile (San Antonio, Texas) adding to the scoring parade to push the home team's lead to its largest of the contest.

The Lady Crusaders piled on 13 shots per half, totaling 26 overall compared to the Ladies' five.

Freshman goalkeeper Elena Naccari (Richmond, Texas) earned the win (5-3) allowing a goal and matching that mark with a save through 90 minutes.
