UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS ATHLETICS

@UDallasWSoccer 2, Schreiner 1

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (5-5, 3-1 SCAC) defeated Schreiner University (1-3, 1-4 SCAC) on Friday afternoon in a 2-1 result. It's the second win in a row for the Lady Crusaders, and lifts the squad to three victories in the past four matches.

Both squads got on the board fast in this contest, as senior forward Nicole Johnson (Houston, Texas) snuck a lengthy shot from nearly 30 yards out into the top portion of the net. The team's leading scorer, produced her seventh goal of the campaign in the fourth minute of regulation, as her knock benefitted from a high bounce that banked off the crossbar.

Freshman midfielder Sydney Stirling (McLean, Va.) earned the assist in the impressive score.

At the 5:49 minute mark, Schreiner answered with a goal from Heidi Workman. The netter came off a one-timer shot that was finished after an Ashley Foster pass.

Despite the early offensive effort, neither team would score the remainder of the half. Dallas did outshoot the opposition 13-9.

It was in the 77th minute of the second frame, the Lady Crusader's would notch the game-winner from freshman midfielder Alice Nelson (Jackson, Tenn.). It was her second time scoring a difference-making goal of the season and matches her total overall.

Johnson paced the navy and white with five shots, and hit four shots on goal for a .800 percentage. Also finishing with a multi-shot match was freshman defender Lauren Hood (Bedford, Texas) with a pair.

Freshman goalkeeper Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) with a 2-2 record picked up the win in the net, working 90 minutes and allowing one goal, while rejecting five shots.
