IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team (1-1) captured its first win of the 2014 season, as they achieved a 1-0 victory over Southwestern College (Kan.) on Sunday morning at Crusader Field.

Freshman midfielder Sydney Stirling (McLean, Va.) deposited a header in the 54 minute that proved to be the game-winning goal. The tally was Stirling's first of her collegiate career, and assisted by junior defender Rebecca Brunter (Los Alamitos, Calif.).

Brunter also boasted a team-high three shots and two shots on goal. For Southwestern (1-1), Sierra Meyer posted a game-high six shots, two of which were on net.  

The Lady Builders outshot the navy and white, 18-12, but held just a 7-6 shots-on-goal advantage.

Now 1-1 on the season, freshman goalkeeper Tori Fleharity (Richmond, Texas) recorded her first collegiate win. Through 62 minutes, Fleharity held Southwestern scoreless and notched four saves.

Samantha Haeick (Las Vegas, Nev.) replaced Fleharity for the final 28 minutes. She registered three saves to help Dallas complete its first shutout of 2014. 

Southwestern played a different goalkeeper in each half. Courtney Jones compiled four saves in the first frame. Olyvia Bish handled one save, and surrendered the lone goal of the affair.

Next Opponent: 

Dallas takes to the road for the first time this season, as they head to Kansas for two games this weekend. They will contest the University of St. Mary's (0-2) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Leavenworth.
