No. 3 Trinity University 'proves medal' in SCAC opener, dishes 6-2 defeat to Women's Soccer

SAN ANTONIO - The University of Dallas women's soccer team (7-2, 0-1 SCAC) suffered a 6-2 loss to No. 3 Trinity University, as both teams opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC)-play Friday afternoon.

Trinity (5-0-1, 1-0 SCAC) lived up to their NCAA Division III billing, as the Lady Tigers put 20 shots on goal from 35 total shots attempted.

Senior goalkeeper Brigid Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) turned away 14 shots in 90 minutes, but Trinity's offensive attack proved too fierce.

By the 34th minute, Trinity had a commanding 4-0 lead, leaving the Lady Crusaders temporarily shell-shocked. 

Nicole Johnson (Houston, Texas) was a bright spot for Dallas, as the sophomore forward ensured her squad would not be held scoreless, netting two on the day.  

Johnson's first came in the 39th minute, while here second -- and fourth of the season -- occurred in the 78th minute.

She accounted for two of Dallas' five shots on goal. The Lady Crusaders were stimied into nine total shots after previously averaging 20.25 per game in 2012. 

Leading 4-2 late, Trinity deposited two goals in the final 8:36, dealing Dallas a four goal defeat.

Dallas looks to rebound in their second conference game, as they take on Southwestern University (1-6, 0-1 SCAC) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, in Georgetown, Texas.
