Melissa Carpenter notches two goals and an assist, as Women's Soccer triumphs 3-0 in road contest over LeTourneau University

LONGVIEW, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team (3-0) took care of business late Thursday afternoon on the road versus LeTourneau University (1-3), with the Lady Crusaders defeating the YellowJackets 3-0 to remain undefeated early in the 2011 season.

Junior forward/midfielder Melissa Carpenter (Sugar Land, Texas/Austin H.S.) had a game to remember for Dallas, scoring the tilt's first tally (unassisted) at the 28:31 mark of the first half.

LeTourneau's Jamie Malinaric almost tied the game less than five minutes later when her diving header landed just left of the Dallas goal.

Roughly a minute-and-a-half into the second half of play, Carpenter assisted freshman forward/midfielder Nicole Johnson (Houston, Texas/Pope John XXIII H.S.) for her first collegiate score.

Carpenter wasn't done yet, however, as she poured in her second goal of the game, in the game's waning minutes. She was assisted on the scoring play by sophomore defender Emily Rogers (San Antonio, Texas/MacArthur H.S.) and sophomore forward Claire Sexton (Salem, Va./Salem H.S.). On the day, Carpenter totaled five points overall.

Three games into their 2011 campaign, and the Lady Crusaders have yet to allow a goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Brigid Hasson (Fairfax, Va./Trinity at Meadowview) has recorded two shutouts, and combined for another in the season opener with freshman Mary Quinn (Kansas City, Mo./Notre Dame de Sion).

Hasson needed to make just one save against LeTourneau, with the Dallas attack in full force and a dynamic defense providing support. Dallas outshot LeTourneau 18-2, with Sexton notching a team-high six shots (three on goal).
