Walsh Scores Eight in Record Win for Crusaders

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team won their non-conference matchup with Spalding University 22-1 Monday evening.  They improve to 1-2 on the season, picking up their first win since March of 2020.

Teagan Walsh opened the scoring just over 30 seconds into the game, scoring the first of what would be a career-high eight goals.  Walsh and Sophia Haeuser would each have their hat tricks by the end of the first quarter, with Gabby Dixon scoring a pair as well.  She would not have to wait long for her third, as she opened the scoring in the second half after a minute and a half.

The Crusaders nearly doubled their lead in the second quarter, going into the halftime break up 15-1.  Dixon, Haeuser, and Walsh kept racking up the goals, and Angela Bawardi got her name on the scoresheet with a pair of goals in the period.

Bawardi got her hat trick thirty seconds into the third quarter, Liv Conger picked p her first goal of the season, and Walsh scored goals six, seven, and eight in the period.  The Crusaders saw out the fourth period with much less action, though Olivia Moore would score a pair before the final whistle.

The Crusaders set two new records with this win; most goals goals scored in a single game (previous record: 21 on three occasions) and largest margin of victory (previous record: 20 vs UNT - 3/22/2015).

The Crusaders are back in action this Wednesday, playing in a neutral match with Hanover College, hosted by Spalding.  The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start in Louisville.
