Haueser Scores Five Against Spires

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team lost their non-conference matchup with the University of St. Mary 19-10 on Sunday morning.  They fall to 0-2 on the year.

The final score is deceptive, in that the match was quite even for 45 minutes.  The Spires gave themselves a nice cushion with a big first quarter, jumping out to a 7-1 lead, but from then on it was a tit-for-tat battle.  The second quarter saw the most scoring in the game, with nine goals shared between the two sides.  The crusaders scored three goals in the last three minutes to make it a 12-5 game at the half.

Dallas opened the scoring in the second half, Angela Bawardi scoring the teams sixth goal a minute into the third quarter.  St. Mary rattled off three unanswered goals in response, before the teams traded blows to end the period.  Each team netted three goals in the fourth quarter, four of the six goals coming inside the final five minutes.  After falling behind in the first quarter, it was a 12-9 game the rest of the way, a much stronger overall performance than the final nine goal deficit would indicate.

Sophia Haeuser led the team in scoring with five goals, notching an assist and five ground balls as well.  Gabby Dixon led all players with 11 ground balls and led the Crusaders with three assists.
