Crusaders Fall in SCAC Women's Lacrosse Semifinals to Southwestern on Saturday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team dropped its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Semifinals match against Southwestern University. The Pirates (6-4) raced out to a 10-goal lead in the first 10 minutes and would never look back, as they dominated on both sides of the ball. They advance to play the No. 1 Seed Colorado College on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the championship match.

Raven Garcia tallied 10 points lead Southwestern, registering five goals and assists. Deanna Hames added four goals and three assists to go with a game-high seven draw controls. Liana Collins, Raquel Kurth, and Natasha Perez-Krause all had hat tricks.

Gabby Dixon (San Diego, Calif.) broke through for the Crusaders (0-8) at the 14:46 mark in the first half to account for UD's lone goal. She raised her season total to a personal-best four goals, and finished the year ranked second on the squad for scoring. The second-year player for Dallas garnered a season-high nine ground balls and won three draw controls, which was the third contest this season to eclipse that number in that column. Lizzy Elfelt (Brookfield, Wis.) led the team with six draw controls. Elfelt matched Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) with three shot attempts to lead the squad.

Pauletti was the lone senior on the team this season and finished with a team-leading 19 goals on the campaign. That completes her all-time goals and points totals at 67, which ranks seventh in each category for the UD program. After playing 23 games her first two years, she was limited to just 13 combined the past two seasons due to COVID-19 affected schedules.
