THE LEAD

The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team embarks on a road trip for its final regular season matches. Johnson & Wales University (CO) will be the host site, as the Crusaders (3-8) play Loras College on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. (MST). Dallas then turns around and will play the Wildcats, who are a first-year member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) on Saturday at 2 p.m. (MST).

Dallas is playing its first matches of the month, after its most recent scheduled match with St. Edwards University was cancelled. The Crusaders last played on March 30 in a 26-13 setback to University of Wisconsin River Falls.


THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR UD

-Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) achieved 154 career goals and has 156 career points – both rank 2nd in the program.

- Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas) has contributed a career-high 32 goals and now has 90 points overall in four seasons. She produced a personal-best nine draw controls, which helped propel her above the century mark for her career as well.

- The Crusaders have scored 130 goals, which is the most in a season since the final total in 2011 (152). That team played 15 games.

- Dallas is 2-0 against both teams in all-time matchups.

- The Crusaders prevailed the past two seasons against the Wildcats, winning 19-7 at home a year ago and 10-5 in Denver. Leite and Keever had a trio of goals in the road tilt.

- UD last faced Loras College on April 3, 2016 in Dubuque, Iowa. The guests won 13-6, led by Leite with five goals in her rookie campaign. She and Keever are the lone players on this roster that played in that game.


A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS

(Loras College)

- The Duhawks are 6-6 overall.

- They defeated Johnson & Wales on Tuesday by a final of 21-7. That was a season-high in scoring for Loras, with six different players scoring. Clare Brunn led with six goals, while Renata Veljacic and Olivia Flynn contributed five apiece.

- Brunn and Flynn are nearly identical in total goals with leading totals, 44 and 43. Flynn has an extra pair of assists (5) to give her the team-high 48 points. Katlynne Wolf has dished 14 assists, which is the lone double-digit number in that column.

- The Duhwaks are being outscored 166-150, but have made more looks on the free position (31-72) compared to opponents (19-45).

- Rebecca Hiebing has done the goalie work with 117 saves and has a 41.3 save percentage. She has faced 362 shots.

- The Wildcats are 2-11 on the season. They have lost four straight and are winless (0-3) at home.

- Madisyn Tulenchik is the top scorer on the squad with 23 goals. Ashley Guerrero has added 19, while Katie Smith rounds out the top three with 14. Next highest goals number is five.

- Jochelyn Suglio is the main contributor on assists with nine. She follows the top trio in double-digits for points with 14.

- Brigid McCollam has garnered 122 saves and posted a 43.4 save percentage in 14 matches (8 starts) over 600:20 minutes.

- The team's shot on goal percentage is a 74.4-clip with 122 shots on cage in 164 attempts.


UP NEXT

Dallas returns to Colorado about a week later to participate in its first SCAC Tournament since the league renewed sponsorship of the programs. Colorado College will be the host school for the two-day tournament on Apr. 27-28. Along with the host school, Southwestern University, and Johnson & Wales along with Dallas will form the four teams participating. Seeding for the bracket will be released towards the end of the weekend once the final match involving conference teams UD and Johnson & Wales has been concluded.
