Crusaders Unable to Keep Pace with Westminster on Saturday

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team suffered its first setback of 2019 with a 19-8 result to Westminster College (PA) on Sunday. Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) kept her hat trick streak intact with a team-high four goals. The Crusaders (2-1) trailed 10-6 at halftime, but Westminster (1-0) scored seven unanswered to pull away in a 9-2 second half.

Joining Leite in the scoring column were Aneliz Rios (San Diego, Calif.), Camryn Dougherty (Drayden, Md.), Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas), and Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) with one apiece. The Crusaders tallied 18 of their 22 shots on goal. This included Leite (5-5), Rios (3-3), Keever (2-2) and Ella Pedrozo (Austin, Texas) being perfect with all their shots on cage.

Despite the high amount of chances, Emma Bradley was able to limit the Crusaders to eight goals allowed on 18 shots faced as she notched 10 saves in 60 minutes for the Titans.

Margo Mason led the Titans offense with a game-high eight goals as she took 17 shots. Bria Braddock and Emily D'Amico chipped in nice games with five and four goals, respectively.

Lizz Winkler (St. Charles, Mo.) and Jordyn Buell (Murrieta, Calif.) combined for 10 saves with Buell notching six in 38:50 minutes.

The Crusaders were 27-42 on successful clears, while Westminster went 30-44. Turnovers (34-33) and groundballs (32-31) were nearly even with the Titans holding the edge by one in each.
