Crusaders Pour 19 Goals in Sunday's Women's Lacrosse Victory

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team competed on Sunday versus Tarleton State University and picked up a 19-1 victory. The Crusaders (1-0) took a 12-0 lead into the break and had 17 straight goals to cruise to an easy win.

Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) and Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas) combined for 10 goals on the day – all in that opening stanza – with six and four, respectively. Leite finished with eight points on the day with assists to Alex Parkey (Henrietta, Texas) and Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) on the 13th and 19th goals of the match.

Leite got the Crusaders on the board at the 28:17 mark. Keever netted the next two and would secure her hat trick nine and half minutes into play after Leite had notched the team's fourth goal two minutes prior. Leite joined her senior teammate with goals three and four on a free position (18:20) and then an assisted netter that was helped by Camryn Dougherty (Drayden, Md.) (17:36).

Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) was the first besides the top-scoring tandem to find the back of the cage, and it came on a reversed shot over her shoulder.

The Crusaders had nine different players etch at least one mark in the goals column. Aneliz Rios (San Diego, Calif.), Dougherty, Sarah Gamble (Allen, Texas), and Ella Pedrozo (Austin, Texas) are the other scorers not mentioned yet that did break into that category.

Dallas forced 24 turnovers on Tarleton while only committing 13. Dallas was 19-for-21 on clears and held an 18-11 edge on the groundballs. The Crusaders poured 38 shots overall.

Tarleton had its lone goal at the 15:59 mark on a transition play by Jordan Crofford. Lizz Winkler (St. Charles, Ill.) managed two saves in 60:00 minutes. Alex Cockrell and Kenzie Garcia combined for nine saves in the net for the Texans. Both played one half.
