Women's Lacrosse drops Opener at Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener 18-6 at Southwestern University. A 10-goal deficit at halftime was too much to overcome for the Crusaders. The Pirates improved to 1-1 on the season.

The offense for Southwestern pushed out to a sizeable lead with the first 11 goals scored in the first half. Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas) notched UD's first goal of the season with 7:23 left in the frame. She followed with another goal about three minutes later for the team's other goal that half. Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) assisted the goal.

In the second half, the Crusaders posted four goals, which included Keever securing a hat trick to lead the guests. Leite also recorded a goal to give her 75 for the junior's career. Other players finding the scoring column were: Christiane Flynn (Seattle, Wash.) and Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas). Pauletti is a dual-sport athlete with volleyball. Avery Finch (Jamul, Calif.) etched an assist in her first collegiate women's lacrosse game. She was a four-year letter winner for softball and is a graduate student now.
