Women's Lacrosse unable to keep up with Illinois Tech Saturday
CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois Institute of Technology (12-1) moved past the University of Dallas women's lacrosse team in an 18-1 final on Saturday. Dallas (3-11) surrendered the first 17 goals, before its leading scorer, Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) found the back of the cage with less than four minutes in the game.
NOTABLE STATISTICS

- Leite notched her 42nd goal to increase her career total on the season. She also has a career-best 51 points. Leite placed two-of-three shots on cage, won two draw controls, and picked up a groundball.
- Gwen Mohler (San Francisco, Calif.) attempted a team-high five shots with four on cage. Her shot total was half of UD's 10 overall.
- Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) produced personal bests in ground balls (4) and caused turnovers (3).
- Katie Crnkovich (Walnut Creek, Calif.) had a trio of groundballs and two caused turnovers. Christiane Flynn (Seattle, Wash.) added a pair in each of those categories.
- Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wash.) made a personal-most 14 saves in her second straight start.
- The Scarlet Hawks were led by Alyssa DeLuca with five goals. She posted eight shots and six on goal. She earned a game-high four draw controls and added six groundballs (team-high).
- Jennifer Young (4) and Madison Meredith (3) followed with the other hat tricks in scoring. - Meredith had two assists, which matched Sarah Maciorowski's two. The team had eight combined helpers, led by Isabella Rubin's trio.
- Abbie Reynolds and Jessica Cochis split 30 minutes in the cage. Cochis had four saves in the second half.

- Dallas was outshot 36-10 in the match. This included a 24-4 difference in the first half.
- The Crusaders did match their foe in groundballs (7) in the second half.
- Illinois Tech forced UD into 24 turnovers and committed 18.
- The Scarlet Hawks won seven draw controls per stanza, while Dallas only had that total amount in the game.
- IIT also matched free position goals (2) and successful clears (6) in each half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Meredith and Rubin were involved on the first two scoring plays as the duo picked up points on each play. Meredith netted the first goal about four minutes into action. She assisted the next two goals to claim three points at that juncture.
DeLuca scored on back-to-back goals with the first just over the midway point. Her second in a row at 10:32 in the opening frame pushed the advantage to five. The Scarlett Hawks kept the offense advancing with another five goals in under 10 minutes to display that margin of a lead at intermission. DeLuca scored the eighth goal to secure the team's first hat trick.
More quick offense for the home team in eight minutes lifted the Scarlet Hawks to a 14-0 lead. With 3:18 remaining, Dallas' Leite scored in her third match in a row and has scored in 13 this season.
