Women's Lacrosse falls Senior Day to Pacific University

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-5 decision on Tuesday afternoon versus Pacific University. Dallas (2-9) has concluded the home portion of its schedule. The Boxers (3-3) have won consecutive games and used a 13-0 first half to grab the momentum in this one.

NOTABLE STATISTICS

- Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas) kept her goal-streak alive with one of the team's pair. The second highest scorer on the squad has put the ball in the cage nine straight matches.

- Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) had her scoring stretch ended at 10 this season and 17 dating back to last season. The leader in points and goals did dish an assist to keep her point streak alive at 18.

- Gwen Mohler (San Francisco, Calif.) passed an assist to maintain pace with Leite for the team-lead on the season with eight. Mohler also posted her lone shot on cage.

- Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) picked up a team-high and career-best three groundballs. She also caused a turnover.

- Lizz Winkler (Las Vegas, Nev.) made eight saves in a complete game effort.

- Pacific was led by Roya Tahmassebi and Jordyn Godfrey with five points apiece. Tahmassebi notched five goals and Godfrey followed with four.

- Lucy Almao also garnered a hat trick with three.

- Adrienne Salzwedel andKaitlin Ellis combined for seven saves.

- Dallas was outshot 35-8 in the match. This included a 26-3 difference in the first 30 minutes.

- The Crusaders did place seven shots on cage.

- The home team did muster a 13-12 edge in groundballs. Both squads garnered nine in the first half.

- Pacific won 18 draws out of 21 opportunities. Clears were nearly perfect at 12 successful in 13 chances.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders were unable to halt Pacific's offense, as the opposition rattled off the first 17 goals. 13 occurred in the first half to build a halftime margin by that amount.

Tahmassebi got the scoring started a minute and a half into the contest. Fellow top scorer on the team that game, Godfrey, threw over the assist. She compiled her next four points in row by tallying goals for each to build the Boxers' advantage to five with just over seven minutes into the stanza. Tahmassebi had the next goal on an assist from Paisley Hiefield. Then two new players got into the scoring column for PU, before the leading scorer of the match netted two straight to secure the second hat trick of the match and opened a 10-0 difference.

Prior to the start of the game, Mohler and Tonry were recognized as part of senior day for the program. Tonry picked up her first grounball that was part of her team-high at 26:05 in the first half. That led to the Crusaders second successful clear and first shot of the match which was fellow senior Mohler. The attacks shot was saved top shelf by Pacific's Salzwedel.

Mohler did etch her eighth assist of the season later in the second half on the team's first goal of the game. Julia Shinkle (Ewing, N.J.) caught the pass and finished with a goal to end the Boxers stretch. Shinkle scored in all three matches on this homestand. That goal occurred with barely under six to play in regulation. With 4:13 to go, Keever fired a goal from Leite with a man-up for the other UD score.
