Record Day propels Women's Lacrosse past Carroll University
IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team enjoyed an incredible day shooting the ball, easily boasting its season most totals with 42 shots and 30 shots on goal. A combined 13 goals from Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) and Julia Shinkle (Ewing, N.J.) highlighted the Dallas (2-7) offense tying a single game record for goals in a 21-13 victory against Carroll University (1-3) on Thursday afternoon.
Besides the 21 goals, the Crusaders dished 11 assists to help finish with 32 points overall. Each of those marks set an individual game record in the UD program record books. The previous high in assists was nine back on April 7, 2011, against TCU's club team. That same match featured 27 points, which tied the former record before today along with April 11, 2006, against the club team for University of North Texas.
Both existing goal records were versus North Texas. The most recent occurred just under two years ago on March 22, 2015. The other matchup between these teams was that 2006 date.
NOTABLE STATISTICS

- Leite notched personal highs for her career in goals (7) and assists (3) en route to 10 points, which was one shy of tying the single match record.
- The leading scorer set a new season record streak of nine games. Her streak of 17 extends back into last spring. Leite etched a 100 percent shots on goal result (9-9) with that amount on the cage being a season best.
- Shinkle followed with a career day in the scoring column by firing six goals. She hammered 12 shots and added a helper for seven points.
- Gwen Mohler (San Francisco, Calif.) rounded out the top three in points with six thanks to tying a record setting four assists.
- Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas) claimed her second hat trick of the year with three goals. She has scored in seven straight and all but the second contest of the campaign. Behind Leite's six draw controls, Keever won five.
- Patty Hahn (Plano, Texas) earned six groundballs for a game-high. Christiane Flynn (Seattle, Wash.) and Shinkle both caused three turnovers.
- The Pioneers had two major scorers with both combining for 11 goals. Arriannah Ritter and Darby Henjum had six and five, respectively. The tandem both were perfect shooting on the cage with seven shots apiece.
- Shelby Schoob made nine saves in 60 minutes.

- More season-highs for UD included groundballs (24) and draw controls (17) and caused turnovers (11).
- Dallas was 17-for-25 in successful clears, with a 12-for-13 display in the second half.
- Carroll did win more draws by two and did partly due to an 11-4 difference in the final 30 minutes.
- Both sides had three goals on free positions, but the guests were 3-of-4 while Dallas was 3-of-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Carroll claimed the early lead on three occasions within the first six minutes. Henjum claimed the first two goals for the visitors, with each one putting her squad back in front. UD's Frances Davis (Heber City, Utah) got the team on the board a minute and a half in. Leite assisted that goal and then would find the back of the netting to keep her scoring streak going just barely under five minutes into action. Mohler had the assist on that one.
Katie Majewski scored a few seconds later from Natasha Niles to give the Pioneers their final advantage of the match (3-2). With nearly 10 minutes past, Shinkle scored on a dime from Mohler to knot the game at 3-3. It was Mohler's second career game to have multiple assists with the other match being at home Mar. 12 versus Benedictine College (KS).
Less than a minute later, the team's second leading scorer, Keever, joined the Crusaders goal column with what would be the gamewinner. Davis threw the assist. Two more goals ignited a 4-0 run that happened in 1:20 minute span. Darya Gerami (Burbank, Calif.) made it 5-3 on a free position shot. It was the freshman's first collegiate goal. Shinkle capped surge with her third two-goal game of the spring.
About midway through the stanza, the Pioneers rattled two quick scoring plays from Ritter and Donna January to nip the margin to one (6-5). Ritter scored on the free position and then got involved with an assist on the 15:30 mark score.
Dallas countered with a 6-0 run started by Keever. Leite added two in this span and Shinkle etched the goal that counted towards UD's season-high (12) to give both her and Leite hat tricks. The Crusaders led 13-7 intermission as Leite concluded the scoring on a goal with 1:45 remaining.
In the second half, the team's exchanged points for the most part. Shinkle continued her impressive performance with the first goal just over three minutes in on an assist from Hahn. After each teams' leading scorer of the match exchanged netters, Ritter scored at 19:14 to start a span of four total goals in under three minutes combined sides.
Carroll did go back-to-back with a little over 10 minutes in regulation to make it a six-goal gap, but Dallas poured a trio in a row by Shinkle, Leite, and Mohler in order to tie the single game scoring record.
