Women's Lacrosse falls to Southwestern on Sunday
IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team was defeated 18-5 on Sunday versus Southwestern University. Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) and Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas) notched multiple scoring efforts for the Crusaders (0-4), but Southwestern (2-1) poured 11 goals in the first half to command the afternoon.
NOTABLE STATISTICS

- Leite posted two goals to increase her team best to 13. The sophomore has scored in all four contests this campaign. She also was a perfect 4-of-4 in shots on cage.
- Keever netted a pair of goals for consecutive days and the third time this season.
- Julia Shinkle (Ewing, N.J.) completed the scoring for UD. It was her third of the year and first since the opener at University of Puget Sound.
- Claire Gagliano (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Patty Hahn (Plano, Texas) combined for seven-of-nine draw controls for Dallas with four and three, respectively.
- Notching a game-high in points (6) for the Pirates was Johnee Wolter thanks to five assists.
- Southwestern was led in goals by Ronni Winter with five. Tying the leading scorer with five points was Kate Davis on a hat trick and two helpers Brenna Jobb also earned a hat trick.
- Jordan Little picked up the win in goal with a complete game and three saves.

- The Pirates held an advantage in shots 38-10. Bolstering this margin was a 22-6 difference in the 1st half.
- Dallas was 14-for-26 in successful clears compared to SU's 16-for-20.
- The Crusaders picked up five saves per half.
- Southwestern collected a 24-13 edge in groundballs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
There was plenty of offense in the early going, as the teams combined for six goals before five minutes ticked off the clock. A quintet of them belonged to the visitors as different individuals helped create a 5-1 edge. The lone make for Dallas was when up a man by Keever at 27:47 to cut the score in half at the time.
Jobb had the last goal in that surge for SU and followed with back-to-back for the first multiple scoring effort. The Pirates extended the margin to seven (8-1) before Shinkle fired a goal on a pass from Leite. It was Leite's second assist of the year. After the Pirates answered back, Keever claimed her second man-up goal of the day to reduce the gap to six (9-3) with a little past five until break. Southwestern added a pair of goals to display an 11-3 halftime lead.
The Crusaders totaled three goals with a man-up, as Leite extended her scoring streak with the final one of the trio about four minutes into the second stanza. Leite etched the other home goal of the frame to keep her multi-scoring streak alive as well. By then, the Pirates pulled away with five unanswered in between.
