PREVIEW: Dallas at Oklahoma Baptist University (3/28)

THE LEAD

The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team (3-4) travels to Oklahoma Baptist University (8-1) on Saturday, March 28 for a 3 p.m. contest. Dallas embarks on a five-game road trip to close out the campaign.

Dallas finished the home stand 3-3, and have prevailed in three of the last four outings.

LAST TIME OUT

It was a fantastic Senior Day for the Lady Crusaders, as the team matched a record-high 21 goals against the University of North Texas in a 21-1 decision. Dallas piled on a season-high, 43 shots with 39 on cage.

Leading the way with a personal-best, seven goals was freshman Erin Chadwick (Tampa Bay, Fla.). The attacker dished two assists and shot perfect 12-of-12 shots on goal.

A trio of players garnered hat tricks for the Navy and White, which included: Patty Hahn (Plano, Texas), junior Hayley Rodgers (Houston, Texas), and senior Meghan Falconer (Kohler, Wis.).

Dallas led 13-1 at intermission, and scored the first 13 netters in a row.

LEADERBOARD

Chadwick paces the Navy and White with 18 goals in her rookie campaign. She has contributed five assists to total 23 points. The Tampa Bay, Florida, native has piled 47 shot attempts with 37 on goal for a 78.7 percentage.

Rodgers is right behind with 14 netters and has attempted 32 shots. The junior from Houston, Texas, is tied with Hahn for groundballs with 22.

Rounding out the top three double figure goal-collectors is senior Mary Hilker (Haslett, Mich.) with 10.

On defense, the Lady Crusaders feature senior goalkeeper Christine Jablonsky (Colorado Springs, Colo.). Jablonsky set the program save mark last week in a 8-6 setback versus Olivet College. She has compiled 363 saves entering this weekend, and has displayed a 54.4 save percentage clip overall.

SCOUTING THE BISON

Oklahoma Baptist has claimed a pair of victories in a row since being nipped against Georgetown College on March 16. The Green and White are 8-1 at its home confines. Seven affairs have been decided by four goals or less, with a trio of them needing a single-netter to determine the victor.

In the most recent action, OBU clinched a 10-9 win over Benedictine University. After building a 6-3 edge, the road squad rallied by outscoring the Bison in the second stanza by a pair, but it wasn't enough to overcome the margin.

Leading scorers for Oklahoma Baptist were Allison Ingrim with a hat trick; Paige Morrison, and Hannah Dowell added two apiece. Sabrina Attaway earned the win in cage with five saves, four coming in the second half.

FAMILIAR FOE

These programs have met on the pitch earlier this season, and twice last year. In the contest at Irving, Texas, the Lady Crusaders were topped 8-6, as OBU benefitted from a 7-3 first half lead.

Chadwick and Falconer posted multiple scores with a pair each. Senior Anne Belton and Hilker also found the back of the net. Jablonsky nabbed 13 saves.

The Bison held a 28-19 shot advantage, and were led by Emily Gilbert and Kyra Gilbert with two goals.

In 2014, both matchups were determined by one goal, with Dallas winning an 8-7 showdown at Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Hilker blasted a hat trick, with the final two UD goal's including the game-deciding netter. OBU trailed by as many as four, and Emily Gilbert's pair in the second half weren't enough in a valiant come-from-behind attempt. Her netter with 10:21 minutes in regulation was the final one the rest of the way.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Dallas travels to play consecutive days on Apr. 11-12. The first contest is at Purchase College at 11 a.m. The next day at noon, UD meets College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey.
