BACK ON THE PITCH

The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team (0-2) is looking for its first victory of the early campaign on March 8. Dallas will host Cornell College (0-1) on Sunday at 12 p.m.

An original home contest on Friday with Oklahoma Baptist University (3-0) has been rescheduled to March 7 around 2 p.m. following the Cornell and Oklahoma Baptist neutral site match-up.

The Lady Crusaders are 0-1 at home, and will continue a six-game home stand throughout the month of March. The quintet of contests marks the only matchups for the Navy and White at the friendly confines this campaign.

LAST TIME OUT

Dallas dropped a 15-2 game a few weeks ago in wet and sloppy weather conditions versus Southwestern University. As the rain poured down, the Lady Crusaders were unable to halt SU's offense, which built a 12-0 advantage at the half.

Sophomore Mary White (Slinger, Wis.) and junior Hayley Rodgers (Houston, Texas) would push UD on the board just beyond the midway point of the second stanza, but the affair was concluded 48 minutes in to make it an official contest.

KEY NOTES

Three players have scored for the Lady Crusaders, which include: freshman Erin Chadwick (Tampa Bay, Fla.), White, and Rodgers. Chadwick leads the offense with six shot attempts and has placed half of them on goal.

As a squad, Dallas has attempted 12 and has posted a .750 shots on goal percentage. White has the team's lone assist to boost her in front with a pair of points. Senior Christine Jablonsky (Colorado Springs, Colo.) has totaled 23 saves and worked all 72 minutes as the goalkeeper for UD.

SCOUTING THE BISON

Oklahoma Baptist University remains undefeated after edging Missouri Baptist University, 13-12, last Monday. The contest went to double overtime, with the Green and White rallying behind a three-goal deficit at intermission to force extra regulation. A netter by Hannah Dowell with 46 seconds left in the second extra frame lifted the Bison.

OBU has been force on offense, pouring double figures in two of its three victories. The squad is averaging 11.7 points a game with its season-high output occurring in a 15-11 win against Midland University. Paige Morrison leads the way with 12 goals, including seven in the latest triumph.

All three games have been at home and Friday's match-up at Crusader Field will be the first away contest this early campaign.

SCOUTING CORNELL COLLEGE

The Rams dropped its lone contest this season in 11-3 fashion at Illinois Wesleyan University on Feb. 21. The last pair of games scheduled in the past week have been postponed due to weather conditions.

In the setback, the Purple and White garnered a trio of goals by Morgan Champagne, Sydney Cooper, and Emily Whitfield. Champagne and Cooper also garnered an assist to reflect three points in the affair.

Ebele Bay-Coffie took the loss allowing 11 goals in 60 minutes while collecting five saves. Four occurred in the first half.

Cornell College is on a three-game road trip with a pair of contests at Irving, Texas. CC meets Oklahoma Baptist on March 7 at 11 a.m.

SERIES HISTORY

Dallas faced OBU twice last season and the squads split the season series, with the winner being at the opposing teams' home venue.

In the game at Shawnee, Oklahoma, the Lady Crusaders held a 6-5 advantage at the break and were able hold on despite the Bison exchanging goals to keep the margin at one.

Senior Mary Hilker (Haslett, Mich.) was one of two players to net a hat trick in the game. The midfielder is one of two players on the current roster that scored in the contest. Rodgers added two shots that found the back of the net. Jablonsky notched 11 saves while facing 18 shots against.

The latest outing resulted in UD on the other side of a nail-biter at home, with Oklahoma Baptist prevailing 12-11. Jablonsky also garnered 11 saves, as the Lady Crusaders came up short in a 3-2 scoring second half.

Hilker matched a game-high four goals with five shots – all on target, and Rodgers also placed three in the back of the cage.

Dallas and Cornell will meet for the first time on Sunday.
