Women's Golf Takes Fourth at SCAC Championships

WHITNEY, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team wrapped up the final round of action of the 2024 SCAC Championships on Tuesday.  The Crusaders finished in fourth place after posting a round three score of 343 (+55), giving them a 54-hole score of 1,037 (+173).  They led fifth place Schreiner by 48 strokes, and trailed third place St. Thomas by 42 strokes. 

Trinity held on to lead all three days and secure the SCAC title with a round three score of 305 (+26) and a 54-hole score of 934 (+70).  Southwestern was a distant second at +128 for the tournament.

Kiona Hsiu of Trinity climbed four spots with a 74 in round three, the lowest round of the day, to finish in first place for the individual title.  Southwestern's Ryleigh Erickson, who led by five strokes at the end of day two, coughed up the lead with an 86 in round three to finish tied for second with Trinity's Jessica Mason.

Kimberly Burch secured her third straight 1st Team All-SCAC selection with a fourth place finish after shooting 79 in round three to tie for fourth place.  Burch was tied for second in both Par 3 scoring (3.17) and Par 5 scoring (5.00), tied for fourth with 33 pars, and tied for third with four birdies.

Claire Kirby shot 92 in her final round as a Crusader.  The graduate from Lubbock posted a three-day score of 266 (+50) to finish 17th; she was 13 strokes back from the top 10.

Lauren Waltzer climbed one spot to finish 19th with an 89 in round three, and Gabby Ramirez climbed seven spots to finish 21st with an 83, her lowest round of the tournament.  Madi Meduna shot 101 in round three to finish 23rd.
