Crusaders in Fourth, Burch Amongst Leaders in The Battle at Brownwood

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team wrapped up day one of competition in The Battle at Brownwood on Friday.  The Crusaders are currently in fourth place in the field of five schools with a round one score of 331 (+43).  Dallas leads the field in Par 3 (+8) and Par scoring (+27) and is second in Par 5 scoring (+8).

The leaders, Mary Hardin-Baylor, posted a round one score of 312 (+24), currently maintaining a  seven stroke lead over LeTourneau University.

Sarah Kmiecik of Mary Hardin-Baylor is the individual leader after 18 holes after shooting even par in round one.

Kimberly Burch will need a big day tomorrow, but is in the mix, currently tied for second place with a 76 in round one, trailing Kmiecik by four strokes.  Burch is third in Par 3 scoring at +1 on the day, and leads the field in Par 5 scoring at -1.

The remainder of the field for Dallas is tightly bunched around the middle of the pack.  Clair Kirby is 22nd with an 84 (+12), Gabby Ramirez is T23 with an 85 (+13), and Lauren Waltzer is 25th with an 86 (+14).  

The tournament will conclude tomorrow with a shotgun start scheduled for 9:00 am.
