Women's Golf Take Fifth at Texas Cup

DESOTO, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team concluded play in the Texas Cup hosted by UTD on Tuesday.  The Crusaders finished in fifth place in the field of nine teams with a 36-hole score of 669 (+93).  They were 47 strokes from a podium finish; Mary Hardin-Baylor took third place with a score of 622 (+46).  

The hosts UTD came back to defeat runners up Trinity by seven strokes with a 301 in round two and a 36-hole score of 607 (+31).

Jessica Mason of Trinity shot 77 in round two and held on to win the individual title by one stroke with a score of 148 (+4).

Kimberly Burch secured the 21st Top 10 finish of her career with a 77 in round two, finishing in a three-way tie for seventh with a 36-hole score of 156 (+12).

Lauren Waltzer and Madi Meduna both dropped slightly in the standings.  Waltzer shot 85, just a one stroke difference from her round one score, and fell to T24 with a score of 169 (+25).  Meduna shot 87 in round two, dropping to T26 with a score of 170 (+26).

Calir Kirby stayed put, replicating her round one score with an 87 in round two to finish T30 with a score of 174 (+30) for the tournament.  Gabby Ramirez shaved six strokes off her round one score with a 94 in round two, climbing two spots to 42nd with a score of 194 (+50).

The Crusaders will head to Brownwood, Texas. to play in the Battle at Brownwood hosted by Howard Payne University on Monday, April 12-13.
