Women's Golf in Fourth at Texas Cup

DESOTO, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team wrapped up day one of competition in the Texas Cup hosted by UTD on Monday.  The Crusaders ended the day in fourth place in the field of nine teams with a one-round score of 333 (+48).  They sit one stroke ahead of the University of Houston-Victoria and 20 strokes behind third place Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Trinity University are the day one leaders with a score of 3-5 (+17), holding a one-stroke lead over the hosts, UTD.

Jessica Mason of Trinity University is the individual leader as the only player under par, as she shot 71 (-1) on the day.

Kimberly Burch leads the way for Dallas, currently tied for 10th place with a 79 in round one.  She is three strokes out of the top five and four strokes from a podium finish.

Madi Meduna (pictured) shot 83 (+11) to end the day in a three-way tie for 17th.  Lauren Waltzer is right behind in a five-way tie for 20th with an 84 (+12), and Clair Kirby is in a three-way tie for 30th with an 87 (+15) in round one.  Gabby Ramirez rounds out the field for Dallas in 44th with a 100 (+28) on the day.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes tomorrow, March 19th, scheduled for an 8:30 am shotgun start.
