FIRST TIP

The University of Dallas women's basketball team returns to the court this weekend and welcomes two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) foes to begin league play. Dallas will take on first-year member University of St. Thomas on Friday around 7:30 p.m. and Centenary College on Saturday around 4 p.m.


UD NOTES

- Dallas (2-4) grabbed its first home win of the season and matched last season's total for the campaign with a 64-60 final over Dallas Christian College.

- The Crusaders are averaging 52.2 points and shooting 34.4 percent from the field.

- Beyonce Perry (Lake Jackson, Texas) leads the team with 11.2 points-per-game (67 total). She has made 14 three-pointers.

- Freshmen teammate Madi Horne (Paradise, Texas) is second on the squad with 61 points and is averaging 10.1 points.

- Jules Oliveti (Southlake, Texas) is the team leader for rebounds with 47 and ranks fourth in SCAC with 7.8 per contest. She also is shooting 56.8 percent from the field for second in the league.

(Opponent Notes)

- St. Thomas (5-2) dropped its last outing, 74-52, to Incarnate Word in an exhibition game last Saturday. The team won its last two countable games in the ASC/SCAC Crossover with wins over Sul Ross State University (83-72) and Howard Payne University (100-75).

- Sheridan Hopkins is averaging 25.1 points to lead the Celts with 176 points and is also the leader on the glass with 9.1 boards. Both stat categories lead the conference.

- The team has 116 assists with seven players dishing at least 12 dimes.

- Centenary College (0-7) is without a win this season and 0-4 on the road. Last time out was a 61-50 setback to Mississippi University for Women on Saturday.

- The Ladies will play Austin College for their conference opener on Friday.

- Alex Williams is the scorer to watch with 13.2 points-per-game. The team is averaging 50.3 on the campaign.

ROAD AHEAD

Dallas returns in 2020 with an SCAC trip to Colorado. The Crusaders will play Johnson & Wales University on January 3 and Colorado College on Jan. 4. Mountain Standard Times for the tip-offs will be at 7:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on respective dates.
