UD Women's Basketball Announces 2019-20 Schedule

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team announced its 2019-20 schedule with first-year head coach Bri Calver set to guide the squad. She is the 16th head coach for the program, which looks to bounce back this season after missing the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament the previous two. Dallas has 25 contests on the schedule with 18 against league opponents that include newcomer University of St. Thomas (TX).

12 games for the Crusaders will be at their home confines in the Maher Center, with the season and home opener on November 12 versus LeTourneau University. Four of the first five games on the ledger pit the Crusaders against teams from the American Southwest Conference (ASC). Dallas has a three-game road trip with Southwestern Adventist University (Nov. 19), Sul Ross State University (23rd), and University of the Ozarks (26th). The final date of the month has UD back home with Concordia University (TX).

The Crusaders have a short schedule in December with just a trio of games, all at home. The season-long, four-game stretch continues with Dallas Christian College on Dec. 6 and then SCAC play opens with St. Thomas and Centenary College on the 20th and 21st, respectively.

There is a six-game span against league opponents before the final non-conference tilt is played that season up the road at Dallas Christian College (January 15). The new calendar year begins on Jan. 3 and 4 at Johnson & Wales University (CO) and Colorado College. The Crusaders are home for the first time in 2020 with SCAC foes Trinity University and Schreiner University visiting on the 10th and 11th. Trinity was the SCAC Regular Season Champion and runner-up in the 2019 tournament.

After the last non-conference game of the regular season, the Crusaders continue the three-game road stint that weekend at 2019 SCAC Tournament winner Texas Lutheran University (17th) and Southwestern University (18th). UD will have a back-to-back matchup with Austin College as the home-and-home games take place on Jan. 21 and 24 with the first meeting in Irving. The busiest month for the Crusaders ends with Johnson & Wales visiting on the 31st, wrapping up a 10-game month.

On February 1 the Crusaders host Colorado College and have just two home games left after on the six-game schedule that month. Dallas will venture a week later to Trinity (7th) and Schreiner (8th), and then host Texas Lutheran and Southwestern for the remaining home contests that regular season on the 14th and 15th. The regular season ends at St. Thomas (21st) and Centenary College (22nd).

Six teams will qualify for the 2019-20 SCAC Tournament from Feb. 28 to March 1 hosted at Schreiner University. Johnson & Wales and St. Thomas are not eligible for the tournament due to the transition process to NCAA Division III and in the SCAC. JWU is in its second year as a member of the conference.
