OPENING TIP
The University of Dallas women's basketball team begins the second half of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) action. The next four games are on the road, with the first weekend trip being against a couple familiar opponents.
On Friday, the Crusaders are at Texas Lutheran University with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. The next day, the team faces off with Southwestern University around 6 p.m.
Dallas (7-11, 1-6 SCAC) will be looking to end a three-game losing streak. Both opponents on the slate this weekend topped UD in Irving by 10-point decisions last Friday and Sunday.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) remains near the top of the leaderboard of the conference in rebounds-per-game at 9.0 (1st), scoring average with 18.1 points (2nd), and a 48.1 field goal percentage (4th).
- Helen Onyenso (Oak Park, Ill.) is the other UD player averaging double figures in scoring with a 10.3-clip. She follows her senior classmate DeCoud in total boards with 118 and 6.6 per contest.
- Dallas ranks second in the league for rebounding offense with 748 total from the offensive glass.

EARLIER SEASON MATCHUPS
- The Crusaders took on TLU less than a week ago, and were defeated 58-48 at the Maher Center. DeCoud and Vanessa Diaz (San Antonio, Texas) scored double-digits with 17 and 12 points, respectively. Diaz had 10 from the free throw line. Full Recap
- This past Sunday, Dallas used a 14-0 run to start the second half and take its first lead of the game, 40-34. However, Southwestern University outscored the Crusaders by eight in the fourth quarter. DeCoud recorded her 9th double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Full Recap
BY THE NUMBERS
- Last season, the Crusaders dropped both road matchups with these teams. DeCoud had a strong performance at TLU with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and two steals.
UP NEXT
Dallas remains on the road for two games at the start of February. On Feb. 2nd, the Crusaders go to Centenary College, and then are at Austin College the next day.
