OPENING TIP

The University of Dallas women's basketball team (2-1) heads to Memphis, Tennessee, to participate in the Rhodes College Classic on November 26-27. Dallas will take on Rust College first and then Westminster College the next day. Both tip-offs are slated at 4 p.m.

The Crusaders are coming off a 70-62 victory Tuesday night at the Maher Center. UD knocked off Randall University for its second straight win, taking both games at the friendly confines. Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) led all scorers with a season-high 21 points. Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) earned a double-double with a season-high 17 points and 12 rebounds.


UD NOTABLES

- DeCoud recorded her 11th career double-double and second of the early season. She leads the squad in scoring with 44 points and 14.7 points-per-game (ppg).

- Stoia is the other Crusader averaging double figures with 13.3 ppg. She has accumulated 40 total.

- Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.) is averaging 9.0 ppg and leads the team in assists with 11.

- Celsi Caraway (Arlington, Texas) and Caitlyn Worry (Lumberton, Texas) are tied for the team-lead in made three-pointers with five apiece.

- 15-of-18 points from Worry have been from downtown. She had nine points apiece on the home stand.

- Head Coach Greta Grothe returns to her previous stop before coaching at Dallas. Grothe was the assistant women's basketball coach for the women's basketball team In two seasons (2013-14, 2014-15), Grothe was part of a staff that helped guide the Lynx to a 45-13 record and won the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) both years.

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS

(Rust College)

The Bearcats are 0-2 this season. They fell in the last outing at home against Spalding University on Saturday. D. Bradshaw led Rust with 21 points (9-17 FG) and collected 11 rebounds for a double-double. Megan Rayford just missed a double-double of her own by etching nine points and 10 boards. C. Gilbert tossed in 15 points behind four made three-pointers.

Dallas owns a 5-1 record against the Bearcats all-time. The most recent matchup was at Holly Springs, Mississippi, on January 11, 2010. The Crusaders won by a point (81-80).


(Westminster College)

The Blue Jays (0-4) are still seeking their first win in the young campaign. They fell at home on Tuesday, 73-61, against William Woods. That was Westminster's home opener, and this weekend's two neutral site tips will bring its total on the year to three. The previous neutral court was a 91-64 setback to Millikin last Friday. Saturday's opponent is still TBA, but the Blue Jays will face UD on Sunday to wrap up the Rhodes Classic.

The team is averaging 57.5 ppg and led by Andrea Zalis with a 15.0-clip. Also averaging double figures per game in scoring is Mirrakohl Johnson with a 10.3 mark. Zalis is also the team leader in rebounds-per-game with 7.8. Kelsey Ray is averaging 3.5 assists per contest.

Dallas is 0-3 against the Blue Jays all-time. The last meeting between these programs dates prior to the 2003-04 digital archives.

Dallas is back home as the calendar flips to December. The Crusaders will take on Southwestern Adventist University at 6 p.m.
