OPENING TIP
The University of Dallas women's basketball team tips off the 2016-17 campaign on Tuesday at Hendrix College. The tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. Dallas is coming off an 8-17 season. Second-year head coach Greta Grothe returns 12 players, which includes eight seniors. Six newcomers will also be vying for playing time as the winter progresses.

- Dallas opens on the road for the second year in a row, both at Hendrix.
- Dallas was 2-12 away from the friendly confines, including 2-11 in true road games.
- Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) led the Crusaders in scoring (294 points) and rebounding (154).
- Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) averaged 13.1 points a contest and ranked third in boards with 141.
- The 2014-15 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Newcomer-of-the-Year appeared in 17-of-25 games last year due to traveling abroad in the early portion.
- Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) led the SCAC in assists with 95. Hellen Onyenso (Oak Park, Ill.) pulled down a team-high 71 offensive rebounds and was right behind Stoia for the team-lead with 152.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Hendrix College debuts this season with its home opener versus the Crusaders from Irving, Texas. On Friday, the Warriors played NCAA Division I University of Central Arkansas in an exhibition matchup. Hendrix was topped 71-39.
In the 2015-16 campaign, the Warriors produced a 19-7 overall record and 10-4 mark against Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponents. Hendrix was defeated in the opening round of the SAA by Centre College in a two-point final (56-54).
Hendrix returns Sara Dyslin, who was named to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Team as an honorable mention. Dyslin was the 2015-16 SAA Player of the Year and D3hoops.com All-South Region Second Team selection last year. She averaged 15.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game with 35 blocked shots.
Dallas is 4-24 in the overall series against the Warriors. Last year, HC prevailed in each contest at both venues. In the season opener at Conway, Arkansas, Dallas kept within reach until a 27-16 fourth quarter lifted the Warriors in 75-66 fashion. Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Lindsey Gendron (Houston, Texas) led with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
UP NEXT
Dallas is home at the Maher Center for the first time on Friday with a 6 p.m. start time. The Crusaders host Fontbonne University and begin a three-game home stand.
