SCAC All-Conference Women's Basketball Awards Announced

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced the 2015-16 All-Conference Women's Basketball Selections. Voting is completed by the head coaches of all eight teams in the SCAC, and announced following the final semi-final game of the women's basketball tournament.

The University of Dallas placed three members with All-SCAC-Teams. Headlining the group was sophomore Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) being named to the Third Team. It was the defending Conference Newcomer-of-the-Year's second nod on being placed on an all-conference list.

Juniors Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) and Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) would be named All-SCAC Honorable Mention. It was the first time either of them received votes for an all-conference team, but Tonry did notch the SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year award the year prior to DeCoud.

Despite playing 17 of 25 games due to studying abroad the first part of the campaign, DeCoud tied second on the team in total points (222) and led with 13.1 points-per-game (ppg). The forward was just 13 rebounds shy (141) from being tops on the squad. However, she did lead the SCAC in field goal percentage (51.3) and second in rebounds per contest (8.3).

Stoia was the team-leader in scoring and rebounding. She totaled a career-high 294 points and averaged 11.8 ppg. On the glass, she garnered a career-best 154 rebounds to pace the Lady Crusaders. Stoia notched three double-doubles. The Forward boasted 16 games above double figures in scoring and set a personal best, 27 points, in an 87-67 victory against Centenary College of Louisiana on January 16. She also shot 10-of-16 in that game.

Tonry stepped up with a career-high 90 assists in the point guard role. She ranked tops in the league in total assists and assists-per-game with a 4.0-mark. Tonry also was the leading player on the team in steals with 41. That number ranked her in the top 10 in the conference for that category. She reached her lone double-double in rare fashion with 11 assists (one shy of tying a single-game record), and 10 rebounds versus Schreiner University on Jan. 23.
