Sophomore Shelby Waldron (Banning, Calif.) made the first field goal of the contest, giving the Lady Crusaders an early 3-0 edge. Junior Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) made a jumper just under two minutes out of the first tip, to send UD up one final time at 5-4.

Jade Johnson made two more free throws, giving her four in a row during a span that lifted the Patriots ahead for the remainder of the game. Elaine Herrera drained the first three-pointer for the home team to give a 9-5 lead. About the midway point of the first quarter, Dallas fought to keep the deficit within single-digits.
