Women's Basketball defeats Southwestern Adventist University

KEENE, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team (8-9) would top Southwestern Adventist University in a non-conference tilt on Monday. Dallas continued its 16-game unbeaten streak in the overall series against the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) opponent. It was also the second consecutive road win for the Lady Crusaders.

The road team jumped out to a 10-2 advantage and never looked back. Eight of those first 10 came from sophomore Michelle DeCoud (Monument Colo.). She would lead the way for UD scoring in this game, with 16 points coming by halftime. She also shot 80 percent (8-of-10) from the floor during that span.

Junior Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) chimed in with her first points of the contest on a three-pointer to lift the Lady Crusaders to their first double-digit edge. The Knights rattled off seven straight points, but teammate Lindsey Gendron (Houston, Texas) had an answer to end the run and keep Dallas up.

Three more field goals would follow in the last 1:42 minutes of the first quarter to give UD a 21-11 advantage. DeCoud was responsible for two of those field goals and had amassed 12 points by the first break.

The Lady Crusaders would outscore the home team 10-4 in the next 10 minutes to push a double-digit lead further by a 31-16 halftime margin. That lead continued to increase for the Navy and White, with their largest amount reflecting 25 points in the last 2:52 of the third quarter.

Southwestern Adventist did post its largest point column in the fourth quarter, but it was too much of a deficit to make up.
