FIRST HOME TIP

After nearly two weeks off, the University of Dallas women's basketball team (0-3) plays its first contest of the 2015-16 campaign at the Maher Center. The Crusaders will be hosting Dallas Christian College. First tip is slated at 5:30 p.m.

Dallas will enjoy some time at the friendly confines, playing five of the next six games there. Thursday also begins the first of two separate four-game homestands this season.


THREE THINGS TO KNOW

  • Junior Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) is averaging 13.3 points-per-game (ppg), and notched a season-high 19 points in the most recent outing at University of Redlands. Also averaging double-digit scoring performances are classmates Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) with 12.7 and 11.0, respective clips.  
  • The Crusaders as a team are ranked third in the most recent NCAA Division III leaderboard for free throw percentage at 83.6 percent.
  • Tso is atop the squad with 11 assists and is averaging 3.7 a game to tie for second in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

ABOUT DALLAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

Also known as the Crusaders, the team from Farmers Branch, Texas, will travel down the highway for the 29th all-time meeting between the programs. Dallas holds a 26-2 record in the series and picked up one victory at DCC's venue last year to extend at least a 10-game winning streak going back to the 2009-10 records.

In 2014-15, the Navy and White picked up an 81-67 triumph on the road, after building a 12-point advantage at halftime (39-27). Dallas shot 40.9-percent from the field and pulled down a season-high 54 rebounds. Junior Lindsey Gendron (Houston, Texas) displayed a team-high 13 points, and Stoia scored 12.

Dallas Christian has played eight times this winter entering the matchup on Thursday. The Crusaders are members of the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) and Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA).


UP NEXT

Dallas will host Hendrix College on Sunday, December 6, in a rematch between the squads. The Warriors previous won in the season-opener, 75-66. First tip is set at 2 p.m.
