Austin College turns aside @UDallasWBB, 68-56

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (9-4, 2-1 SCAC) was defeated 68-56 by Austin College (7-5, 2-0 SCAC) on Sunday afternoon at the Maher Athletic Center.

Limited to 9-of-32 shooting (28.1 percent) in the first-half, the Lady Crusaders trailed 28-22 entering halftime. 

Austin College led by a game-high 16 points, with 11:08 remaining in the contest.

An 8-0 run helped head coach Jina Johansen's squad pull to within five points (55-50), with 5:44 showing on the scoreboard.

Christina Kima netted 14 of her game-high 26 points in the second-half to help the Lady Roos to a 12-point victory. Her teammates Brittany Stepanski and Brooke Melton finished with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Freshman guard Lindsey Gendron (Houston, Texas) tallied a game-high 17 points for Dallas, while senior post Christy Allen (Burton, Mich.) had 11 of her own. Gendron was 5-of-10 from 3-point range, and added three rebounds (one offensive) in 24 minutes on the court.

The navy and white were outrebounded (50-34), and only managed eight attempts at the free-throw line in comparison to Austin College's 25 opportunites.

Although the Lady Crusaders lost points-off-turnovers (14-11), they took points-in-the-paint (28-24), second-chance points (13-12), fast-break points (13-0) and bench points (20-8).

Dallas faces Texas Lutheran University (9-5, 1-2 SCAC) in a 8 p.m. tip-off on Friday in Seguin, Texas.
