Allen's game-high 20 points, nine boards help Women's Basketball down Dallas Christian 71-49
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (8-11, 2-8 SCAC) netted 58.8 percent from the field in the first-half en route to a 71-49 victory over Dallas Christian College (DCC) on Tuesday evening.
Dallas converted 20-of-34 (58.8 percent) from the field in the first half, and junior post Christy Allen (Burton, Mich.) tallied 11 of her game-high 20 points by halftime. Allen also tacked on a game-high nine rebounds (six offensive).
The Lady Crusaders held DCC to 7-of-29 (24.1 percent) shooting from the floor, and boasted a commanding 42-19 lead by the break.
Dallas claimed a game-high 26-point (48-22) advantage with 17:48 remaining in regulation on their way to a 22-point win.
Chelsea Seifert (Euless, Texas) joined Allen in double figures, as the freshman guard ended with 11 points.
Senior guard Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, Calif.) -- second nationally in assists-per-game -- added nine assists in 15 minutes.
Nine in all from head coach Jina Johansen's squad contributed points against a DCC team forced to roll with two bench players.
Dallas held the upper-hand in points-in-the-paint (38-14) and points-off-turnovers (14-3).
