Allen's double-double, Bustamante's 20 points help Women's Basketball best Colorado 62-59

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (6-8, 1-5 SCAC) registered a 62-59 victory over Colorado College on Saturday evening at the Maher Athletic Center to end a seven-game winless streak. 

Dallas trailed by as many as nine points in the first half, and went into halftime down 25-23 to Colorado (3-13, 3-3 SCAC). 

There were no lead changes in the first half, but an ebb-and-flow second-half saw seven. 

Sophomore guard Marleyna Bustamante (Donna, Texas) garnered 14 points in the second-half to finish with a team-high 20 points.

With 20 seconds remaining, sophomore guard Brooke Hagemann (Oklahoma City, Okla.) knocked down two free-throws to put Dallas in front 60-59. 

Kalli Kemling notched a game-high 24 points, but missed a 3-pointer on Colorado's ensuing possession. 

Bustamante provided insurance when she made a pair of free-throws with two seconds to go, giving Dallas a three-point triumph. 

Junior post Christy Allen (Burton, Mich.) achieved a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds), while sophomore guard Emily Madden (Torrington, Wyo.) added 10 points. 

Head coach Jina Johansen's squad forced 23 turnovers, and took points-off-turnovers 23-7. Dallas also held an 8-3 second-chance points and 36-31 rebounds advantage.

Dallas resumes conference play on Friday, Jan. 18, in a 6 p.m. game versus Austin College (7-10, 1-6 SCAC) in Sherman, Texas.
