Women's Basketball gets road win versus Austin College Kangaroos

SHERMAN, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (13-12) defeated the Austin College Kangaroos on Tuesday evening, 64-49.

Entering halftime, Dallas trailed Austin College, 23-22. The Lady Crusaders were held to 22.2 percent (6-of-27) shooting in the first half, while their counterpart Austin College sank 29.6 percent of their attempts from the field.

In the second half, Dallas took control, outscoring the Kangaroos, 42-26. The Lady Crusaders held Austin College to 32.4 percent (11-of-34) shooting in the latter half, while netting 40.6 percent (13-of-32) of their own attempts from the floor, en route to a 15 point victory. 

Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, Texas/Marcus H.S.) boasted a game-high 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field, including sinking 8-of-10 attempts from the free throw line. The senior forward also had five rebounds and a steal.

Just as impressive was the fact that two Lady Crusaders recorded a double double. Sophomore guard Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, Calif./Mark Keppel H.S.) totaled 16 points to go along with a 10 rebound evening, while freshman forward Christy Allen (Burton, Mich./St. Thomas More Academy) tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Up next, the Lady Crusaders will play host to the Association of Division III Independents' (AD3I) post-season tournament, which has Dallas opening play versus Nebraska Wesleyan University on Friday, Feb. 25, at 6:00 p.m. in the Maher Athletic Center.
