Crusaders Fall Short Out West

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas struggled offensively in a tough series against McMurry, dropping all three games. The Crusaders (7-19, 3-15 SCAC) were held to five total runs across the series, while McMurry (7-10, 6-10 SCAC) capitalized on key moments to complete the sweep.

Dallas kept game one close but couldn't generate enough run support in a 4-1 loss. Game two saw a stronger offensive output, with the Crusaders tallying 13 hits, but McMurry pulled away late for a 7-4 win. The series finale was all War Hawks, as Dallas was shut out in an 8-0 defeat.

Dallas struggled to find its offensive rhythm, managing just four hits in the opener. Ava Aleman (1-for-3, RBI) drove in the Crusaders' lone run, while Emily Luna (1-for-3, R) provided a spark at the top of the lineup.

On the mound, Ava Trevino and SunnyDale Thies combined to limit McMurry to four runs, but the War Hawks' pitching held strong, preventing Dallas from mounting a comeback.

The Crusaders showed more life at the plate in game two, collecting 13 hits. Keely Mathis (4-for-4, 2 R, 2 SB) led the way with a perfect day at the plate, while MacKenzie Flocke (3-for-4, 2 RBI) and Isabella Halsey (1-for-2, RBI) added key contributions.

Despite the offensive surge, McMurry took advantage of defensive miscues and late-game rallies to secure the win.

Dallas was unable to generate offense in the series finale, as McMurry's pitching staff held them to just four hits. Keely Mathis (2-for-3) was a bright spot, but the Crusaders couldn't string together scoring opportunities.
