IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas softball team lost both games of their conference double header against Texas Lutheran University on Saturday, falling to 3-15 on the year and 0-5 in conference play.

Game 1

Dallas 2, Texas Lutheran 9

WP: Ainsley Davis (1-0)

LP: SunnyDale Thies (3-7)

Things got off to a bumpy start in game one, as the Bulldogs scored three runs before an out was recorded.  Tatum Seith hit a two-run shot that would have driven in all three runs had Caelee Clark not scored on a wild throw down to third.

TLU made it 5-0 with two more runs on five hits in the third before Dallas got on the board in the bottom half of the inning.  Isabella Halsey led off the inning with a walk, and was followed by a line drive single to left by Abby Lasley.  The left fielder misplayed the ball and it rolled all the way to the wall, allowing Halsey to score easily and Lasley to reach second to make it 5-1 with no outs.

Lasley made it to third with no outs on a passed ball, but the Crusaders failed to capitalize on the opportunity.  They did bring home another run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Lasley, her third hit of the day, to make it 5-2.

The Bulldogs used some tricky baserunning to force a pair of throwing errors by Dallas in the sixth, bringing home three runs as a result to take an 8-2 lead.  They added an insurance run in the seventh and held the Crusaders scoreless to seal the win.

Game 2

Dallas 0, Texas Lutheran 17 (5 Innings)

WP: Ashlyn Strother (9-0)

LP: Ava Trevino (0-6)

The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the first once again and never looked back, piling on 13 runs across the second and third innings and adding one more in the fifth for good measure.

Ashlyn Strother nearly put in a repeat performance of her outing in the series opener yesterday, holding the Crusaders hitless through five innings and issuing just one walk.

Abby Lasley finished the series going 3-of-6 at the plate with a stolen base and the only two RBI of the series for Dallas.
